AMVCA 2025: What We Really Think About The Red Carpet Outfits

Let’s not lie, let’s not steal. When it comes to fashion, no one does it like Nigerians – especially Nigerian celebrities! We know how to play dress up like snakes and monkeys know how to cart away with millions of naira. It shows at every award show, including the AMVCA and Headies. It shows at every event, whether you know the people celebrating or not. We will always slay!

Another thing we know how to do very well is to badmouth even the cleanest efforts. If we don’t do it to ourselves, who will? Definitely not Ghanaians and Mzansis.

Well, this is why I’m here to represent!

DISCLAIMER: I believe every single person ate and left no crumbs (except the one who refused to finish his haircut). But I have chosen to hate. And hate I shall.

Ini Dima-Okojie

When I saw this outfit, the first thing I thought was “how many tomatoes can fit into this basket?”. I think that would have made the outfit more complete. It’s the AMVCA afterall, and Africans are known for agriculture.
If you’re going to represent, represent well!

Saga Adeoluwa

Since when did suits require such an extravagant lapel? Why does the tie look like it was actually tied and knotted with a ribbon? Is the fabric itchy? Can he move? Is he comfortable? So many questions.

Oyebade Adebimpe

Did no one learn anything from Tems at the Oscars in 2023? Let’s also consider that we haven’t seen Tems at the Oscars since then and that says more than enough. I believe everyone who shows up with an outfit that blocks everyone else’s sight should be excommunicated from the award show. But that’s just me.

Femi Adebayo

I cannot even sufficiently hate. Femi Adebayo looked like he was sure he was going home with the Best Actor award. Too clean.

Over clean sef, because he looks like he just got out of the shower and forgot to apply moisturizer. For that, I sign my hate comment.

Toni Tones

There’s nothing you can tell me. Someone ripped out a piece from Toni Tones’ dress because they were jealous, but the fairy godmother stepped in and covered that part up with sheer fabric.

I need the designer to show up and tell me I’m lying if that isn’t the case. (Mostly because I’d like to do apprentice).

Elozonam

Picture this: Elozonam is Sword Man and he visited Edna Mode from The Incredibles to create an outfit that represents his superhero identity without giving too much away. She understood the assignment.

I need him to make this into a skit. Send this to him if you believe in my vision.

Nana Akua Addo

Gotta admire the commitment to winning the Best Dressed Award if you know Ghollywood isn’t bringing anything to the table. I SAID WHAT I SAID!

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu

Look, I see the vision, but it’s giving polybag. It’s going to be impossible for me to overlook that.

Honourable Mention

There’s a perfect explanation, I’m sure. Maybe they were running late and he just started the haircut, so he didn’t have time to fade it properly. That’s the only explanation. No one will intentionally look like this. Not even Lisabi.

I still have a whole lot to say. From Osas Ighodaro looking like a tree (I love that dress walahi) to Mercy Aigbe carrying the actual moon on her body.
